Teaching techniques are suggested to effectively increase L2 learners' academic vocabulary. Relying on current research findings on L2 vocabulary in writing, this presentation elaborates on successful and time-tested techniques for academic vocabulary learning -- recycling, reviewing, practicing, and contextualizing--all of which are designed to promote vocabulary retention.
Grammar textbooks and many writing courses usually cover a complete range of structures. However, these structures are not of equal value to students, and some of them have almost completely disappeared from use. Based on the findings of current research, this paper facilitates prioritizing grammar structures to teach.
